School development project eportfolio - english information

Welcome to the website of the ePortfolio project!

„An electronic portfolio, also known as an eportfolio or digital portfolio, is a cohesive, powerful, and well-designed collection of electronic documents that demonstrate your skills, education, professional development, and the benefits you offer to a target reader.“

The school development project “ePortfolio Hessen” is a unique project in Germany where eportfolio in school lessons is being tested. The lessons with this ePortfolio will start in the schoolyear 2006/2007 in selected schools in the federal German state of Hessen. The work in the school is being accompanied with teacher training courses conducted by the Institute of Education (Department of School education) of the Jusus-Liebig-University Giessen.

With this project the culture of studiing shall durable changed for the next time. The lessons will be individualised and differentiated. With this ePortfolio pupils will learn how to reflect and present their skills and competencies. The constructive and productive ability by using new media (e.g. Weblog, Social Software) will be teached additionaly. The demand of this project is to build and invigorate these competencies in the secondary school by using an eportfolio.

We evaluate this ePortfolio to learn more about how pupils learn with it individualised, differentiated and self-reflected.
